IRT Class - Indoor Boarding

  • Calgary Soccer Center - North Field 7000 48 St SE Calgary, AB, T2C 4E1 Canada (map)

Boarding remains one of the most challenging decision to make while officiating Indoor Soccer. Is it Caution? Is it Send Off? Is the player's safety at risk? Who made contact? Is the discipline a result of the action or the outcome? Can the player protect himself? At what velocity do you consider it endangering the safety of the player? Is every contact near the boards a boarding call?

Lots of question still surrounds boarding. The call remains one of the biggest challenge indoor soccer offers. Coaches want it called. Players want it called. Parents/Spectators want it called. But should it be called?

Come and learn more about Boarding with this On-Field session at the Calgary Soccer Centre, on the North Field. We only have the field for one hour, so please arrive a bit early so we can maximize the on-field time!

Boarding is contact by a player that forces an opponent to hit the boards in a manner that endangers the safety of that opponent.
