11 Alberta Referees & Assessors Attend Centralized Provincial Promotion Course in Laval, QC

The Calgary District Soccer Referees Association is proud to recognize the attendance of 11 Alberta referees and assessors who recently participated in the Canada Soccer centralized provincial promotion course for referees and assessors. The course took place over the weekend of May 26-28, 2023, in Laval, Quebec.

The following referees took part in the course:

  2. Adnan Black (Edmonton)

  3. Gareth Kmet (Edmonton)

  4. Hassan Rahmouni

  5. Joshua Gall

  6. Josh Joy (Edmonton)

  7. Mustafa Abed

  8. Megan Opatril (Edmonton)

  9. Shaelyn Holdaway

Additionally, two assessors from Calgary took part in the course as part of their journey in upgrading to provincial assessors:

  1. John Carlucci

  2. Robert Eberhardt

"Attending the Canada Soccer provincial promotion course is a significant achievement, and we are immensely proud of our referees and assessors for their commitment to honing their craft," said Rebecca Paquette, President of the Calgary District Soccer Referees Association. "By participating in this course, these referees and assessors have enhanced their own knowledge and skillset which will only serve to improve refereeing standards in our city and province moving forward."

The Calgary District Soccer Referees Association extends its warmest congratulations to each referee and assessor on their successful completion of the Canada Soccer centralized provincial promotion course and wishes them the best on their upgrading journey. This was the largest contingent Alberta has ever sent to a centralized provincial promotion course and seven of the eleven attendees present at this course were members of the CDSRA. Their attendance underscores the CDSRA’s important work in referee development in our city and across the province.
