Questions & Answers:

Q: Current Referee Level & Highest level attained:
A:
I am currently a provincial referee.

Q: When did you begin, and what motivated you to start refereeing?
A: I started refereeing 12 years ago. It was on a whim that they needed referees and, due to my love of the sport, I expressed my interest right away. I took the entry-level course immediately and was excited to get out there on the pitch!

Q: What has been your most enjoyable game/memory of your referee career?
A:
In 2018, I was surprised and blessed to have received assignments for the Gold medal match for the Div. 1 Youth Provincials and the Jubilee final. In addition, I had the chance to referee the UWS Playoffs in Calgary. I officiated the semi-final and final matches!

Q: What do you love most about refereeing?
A: I love the challenges that come with refereeing, as it helps me stay fit and learn new things. This experience has also helped me improve my communication and management skills, which have proven useful in my professional career.

Q: When did you first become a CDSRA member and what encouraged you to join?
A: In my first year as a referee, I joined CDSRA on the recommendation of a member. Being a part of CDSRA has not only connected me with a community of fellow referees but has also provided me with a valuable education that is essential for running successful games.

Q: What advice would you give to somebody just starting out refereeing?
A: Get a mentor! Be a part of the social referee community, and join the education sessions as you cannot do this alone!

Q: What do you do outside of refereeing and what are some of your interests?
A: I have many hobbies outside of refereeing, although refereeing takes up most of my time. Those who know me well are aware of my passion for playing the game, cars, animals, photography with SKP, fitness, nutrition, coaching, and mentoring.
