Dylon Powley (1996-2024)

The Calgary District Soccer Referees Association (CDSRA) is deeply saddened by the passing of 27-year old Edmonton referee Dylon Powley.

Dylon was a respected member of the Alberta referee community and had been actively officiating in League1. His dedication and passion for the sport were evident in every game he oversaw. Earlier this month, Dylon participated in the ASA provincial promotion course, demonstrating his commitment to advancing his referee career with the ambition of officiating at the professional level.

Beyond his contributions as a referee, Dylon was a former Canadian Premier League (CPL) goalkeeper, having played for FC Edmonton and Atletico Ottawa. His remarkable skill and leadership on the field earned him the respect and admiration of his teammates, coaches, and supporters.

Dylon was also a devoted coach, sharing his extensive knowledge and love for the sport with young athletes. His coaching was marked by his ability to inspire and mentor, creating a positive and nurturing environment for growth and development.

The loss of Dylon Powley is a profound one for the soccer community in Alberta and beyond. His impact as a referee, player, and coach has left an indelible mark on the sport in our province. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and all those in the referee and wider soccer community who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. His legacy of dedication and passion to the sport of soccer will continue to inspire us all.
