21 Alberta Officials, 10 from Calgary Officiate in Inaugural Canada Soccer PDP Championship

The Calgary District Soccer Referees Association (CDSRA) proudly congratulates the 20 local Alberta referees who participated in the Canada Soccer PDP National Championship, held from August 14-18, 2024, at the Bill Gilhespy Soccer Complex in Edmonton. We are especially proud of the 10 referees from the Calgary region, all members of the CDSRA's Centre for Advanced Referee Development (CARD) Program.

Calgary representatives included:

Shaelyn Holdaway (Calgary) was appointed by Canada Soccer as a member of its Elite Development Program alongside Mazzen Black, Kurtis Nozack and Megan Opatril from Edmonton. We are proud of the progress all of these officials have made, particularly our Calgary officials who received the following medal appointments:

  • Cosmin-Vasil Solcan - Assistant Referee on the BU15 Gold Medal game

  • Phillip Schrod - Fourth Official on the BU15 Gold Medal game

  • Shaelyn Holdaway - Fourth Official on the BU15 Bronze Medal game

  • Emily Gall - Assistant Referee on both the BU15 and GU17 Bronze Medal games

  • Ardalan Mohammadi - Assistant Referee on the GU15 Bronze Medal game

Laurie Darvill, CARD Women’s Coach, praised Danica Kosaka and Emily Gall, stating, “Danica and Emily have demonstrated tremendous dedication, and their progress from being identified through our specialized mentoring program, which was first launched last fall, to joining the CARD Program in 2024 highlights the potential and impact of our ongoing efforts to support female referees. Developing more female officials is a key priority, and with CDSRA and RMOC meeting monthly to drive these initiatives, we’re excited to expand our partnerships with CWSA and local leagues this fall to develop even more talent.”
