CDSRA Announces World-Class Instruction Team for ARC 2025

The Calgary District Soccer Referees Association (CDSRA) is pleased to announce the incredible lineup of instructors and speakers for the 2025 Advanced Referee Camp, featuring some of the most accomplished referees and instructors in Canada. This year’s camp will bring together expertise from the global stage and elite development pathways, offering an unparalleled experience for participants.

The camp’s keynote speakers include Drew Fischer, recently named the Best Referee in Major League Soccer (MLS) for 2024, and Kathryn Nesbitt, recognized as the Best Women’s Referee by U.S. Soccer for 2024. These world-renowned officials have set the standard for excellence in refereeing and will share their unique insights into officiating at the highest levels. They will be joined by Micheal Barwegen, a Paris Olympic Referee hailing from Coaldale, Alberta, whose journey will inspire attendees striving to reach new heights in their officiating careers.

In addition to the keynote speakers, the camp boasts an exceptional instructional team, including three Canada Soccer National Instructors and four National Assessors. Among them is Sebastien Dube from Quebec, a National Instructor and Assessor who also leads the Canada Soccer NextGen Referee Program, a crucial part of the elite development pathway for officials aspiring to earn National and FIFA badges. Supporting Sebastien are Richard Sansregret, a National Instructor and member of Alberta’s Referee Development Team (RDT); David O’Neill, a National Instructor, National Assessor, and Alberta’s former Manager of Referees; and Kevin Wildong, the Fitness Lead for Canada Soccer’s National Referee Program.

The team of National Assessors includes Rob Urquhart and Laurie Hastings, the latter also serving as a CSA-trained instructor and Alberta RDT member. Additionally, participants will benefit from the guidance of Laurie Darvill and Owen Procter, both CSA-trained instructors and Alberta RDT members. Together, this elite group will deliver cutting-edge training to help referees refine their skills, deepen their knowledge, and prepare for the next stages of their officiating careers.

We are excited to share that additional spots have been released, and registration has been extended until January 24. However, limited seats remain, so we encourage those interested to register as soon as possible to secure their place at this year’s camp.

With such an extraordinary lineup of speakers and instructors, the 2025 Advanced Referee Camp is set to be an unforgettable opportunity for learning and development. Don’t miss your chance to learn from the best and take your officiating career to the next level. We look forward to seeing you there!
