CDSRA Member Drew Fischer Announced as the MLS Referee of the Year for the Second Consecutive Season

The Calgary District Soccer Referees Association (CDSRA) is proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement by one of its own. Drew Fischer, a long-standing CDSRA member and one of Canada’s most accomplished officials, has been named the 2025 MLS Referee of the Year, earning the award for the second consecutive season.

Drew becomes the first Canadian to earn the MLS Referee of the Year award since Silviu Petrescu in 2012. He is also the only Canadian in league history to win the award in consecutive seasons, marking another historic milestone in his distinguished career.

Rob Urquhart, National Assessor & CDSRA Member, praised the achievement, stating:

“Drew’s achievements are a shining example of what is possible for referees in southern Alberta. His professionalism, dedication, and continuous pursuit of excellence are qualities every young official should look up to. Drew’s success reminds us that world class refereeing can be developed right here at home, and his journey continues to inspire the next generation.”

Drew’s continued success shows his dedication and love for soccer, qualities that the CDSRA is proud to encourage and support in referees throughout our community.

The CDSRA congratulates Drew on this outstanding accomplishment and thanks him for continuing to set a powerful example for aspiring referees throughout Calgary, Alberta, and across Canada.
