Laurie Hastings, a longstanding figure in the Calgary refereeing community, has been an integral part for many years, making outstanding contributions that have significantly improved the refereeing community. Serving in various capacities within the CDSRA, Laurie held positions such as elected director from 2008 to 2010, followed by a decade-long presidency until 2020, and continued as past president until 2024. Recognized for his contributions, Laurie was honored with the CUSA Kieran McGarrigle award in 2022. Additionally, Laurie has been actively involved on the ASA RDT since 2016, when he became the south assessor chair. He has since assessed a number of games in the CPL and at various national competitions. Laurie refereed his final game at Broadview field, during the grand reopening of the field in 2022.

Rob Urquhart has been a part of the referee community for quite some time. Inspired by a chance encounter with CDSRA founder Kieran McGarrigle in 1994, Rob has since made significant contributions, earning him recognition with the CUSA Kieran McGarrigle award in 2015 and the ASA Golden Whistle in 2020. Since 2009, Rob has been involved in assessing, including in the CPL since the 2022/23 season. Notably, he assessed the gold medal match at the Senior Club Nationals in 2015. Rob continues to serve as a valuable mentor to various referees within Alberta.

The CDSRA takes pride in the remarkable achievements of Laurie and Rob, who continue to serve as invaluable mentors within the refereeing community. We eagerly anticipate their future endeavors and congratulate them on their well-deserved success!
